The government has disbursed flood relief worth more than 4.9 billion baht to over 500,000 households, according to Prime Minister’s Office Minister Paradorn Pattanananthakul.

Mr Paradorn said on Thursday that, following the government’s decision to lift the state of emergency in Songkhla province, all flood-relief operations will now be coordinated through the forward command of the Defence Disaster Relief Centre.

The centre will oversee, direct and integrate the work of military units and state agencies to ensure that assistance reaches affected communities swiftly and effectively.

Mr Paradorn reported significant progress in financial aid distribution, revealing that, between Monday and Thursday, the Government Savings Bank successfully transferred compensation to 548,126 households, amounting to over 4.93 billion baht.

An additional list of 62,935 eligible households was submitted yesterday by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), covering another 566 million baht in compensation.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed continued concern about flooding in the South ahead of his visit to Hat Yai today to conduct an on-site assessment and draw lessons for future disaster management.

He noted that more than 90% of the city’s rehabilitation and relocation efforts had already been completed, while emphasising that despite the lifting of the emergency decree, recovery and compensation efforts remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, Interior permanent secretary Ansit Samphantharat visited Hat Yai Municipality Office yesterday to monitor the registration process for the 9,000-baht flood-relief payment.

He reiterated that the Interior Ministry has been instructed by the prime minister to expedite recovery efforts and ensure Hat Yai residents can return to a normal life as quickly as possible.

Mr Ansit highlighted that most registrants have already received payments through PromptPay, though support continues for those requiring additional verification.
