Durbar Tarunno Foundation Installs Free Safe Drinking Water Plant at Chittagong Medical College Hospital

    Published on

Durbar Tarunno Foundation has launched a free safe drinking water facility for patients, attendants, and visitors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Through this humanitarian initiative, nearly 100,000 people will have access to safe and purified drinking water every day. As CMCH is a large government hospital, it receives a huge influx of patients and visitors daily, many of whom previously faced difficulties due to the lack of safe drinking water.

On Sunday (11 January), the water plant was inaugurated at the ground floor of the main building of Chittagong Medical College Hospital. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Foundation’s Chairman, Muhammad Abu Abid. The chief guest was renowned industrialist and BNP Central Executive Committee member Alhaj Md. Shamsul Alam. The plant was officially inaugurated by CMCH Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin by cutting the ribbon and drinking water from the plant.

In his speech, chief guest Shamsul Alam expressed his gratitude to Durbar Tarunno Foundation for allowing him to be part of such a noble initiative. He described the project as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), stating that providing drinking water carries immense spiritual reward. He also thanked the CMCH authorities and all those who cooperated in completing the project, and prayed that Allah accepts this deed. He assured continued support for similar initiatives in the future.

Project initiator and Chairman of Durbar Tarunno Foundation, Muhammad Abu Abid, said that safe drinking water is one of the most basic human needs. At a major government hospital like CMCH, where thousands of people visit daily, patients, attendants, and visitors often suffer due to the lack of potable water. This small effort was undertaken to address that very issue. He expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the initiative—especially chief guest Alhaj Md. Shamsul Alam, the CMCH authorities, the concerned administration, and all volunteers. He added that without their cooperation, the project would not have been possible. He reaffirmed that, Insha’Allah, Durbar Tarunno Foundation will continue to work for human welfare, humanitarian service, and similar socially beneficial initiatives in the future.
