Thailand Strengthens Aviation Security Standards as ICAO Concludes USAP-CMA Assessment

    Published on

Thailand has successfully completed the ICAO Universal Security Audit Programme – Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA), with preliminary findings indicating significant improvement in national aviation security oversight.

The assessment covered key operational areas including legislation, training, quality control, airport and aircraft security,  passenger and baggage screening, cargo and mail security, response to unlawful interference, and facilitation measures. Multiple major airports, air traffic control centers, cargo terminals, and catering facilities formed part of the evaluation.

The audit was supported by extensive cooperation among security, customs, immigration, consular, cyber security, air navigation, and airport agencies, as well as airlines, cargo operators, and catering service providers. This coordinated effort demonstrated Thailand’s ability to manage  multi-layered aviation security risks while aligning with international best practices.

ICAO’s initial observations highlighted Thailand’s strengthened oversight framework, improved regulatory compliance, and enhanced risk management capabilities. The results reinforce international confidence in Thailand’s aviation security system and mark an important milestone in the country’s efforts to maintain global-standard safety and security performance while advancing its role as a regional aviation hub.
